RV Mattress Sizes

RV beds are often shorter or narrower than household beds so they fit around walls, slide-outs and cabinets. Common RV sizes:

Names are not consistent between RV makers, so always measure the platform. The EGOHOME Dreamer RV mattress comes in Short Queen, Short King and RV King.

How to Choose a Mattress Size

Who Sleeps in the Bed

SleepersMinimumComfortable
One childTwinTwin or Full
One adultTwin XLFull or Queen
Two adultsFullQueen or King
Two adults plus kids or petsQueenKing or Cal King

Width Per Person

A Full gives two people 27 inches each, narrower than a crib mattress. A Queen gives 30 inches each, and a King 38 inches each. If either partner moves a lot, the jump to a King is noticeable.

Height of the Sleeper

A good rule is a mattress at least 4 to 6 inches longer than the tallest sleeper. Standard 75-inch beds suit people up to about 5 feet 9 inches comfortably; 80-inch Queens and Kings suit most adults; Cal Kings suit the tallest.

Room Size

Leave about 24 to 30 inches of walkway around the bed where possible, plus room to open drawers and doors. As a rough guide, a Queen fits comfortably in a room around 10 × 10 feet, and a King in a room around 12 × 12 feet.

Mattress Height (Thickness)

Mattresses range from about 8 to 16 inches thick. Thicker mattresses usually have more comfort layers, but they also need deep-pocket sheets and raise the bed height.

11 to 13 in.EcoTerra (11 in.), Aviya (13 in.)Most common range
14 in. and upPlushBeds Signature Bliss (14 in.)Deep-pocket sheets needed; taller bed

Matching Sheets and Protectors

Check sheet pocket depth against your mattress height plus any topper. For a 14-inch mattress, look for sheets labeled for 14 to 16 inches. Split sizes need split sheets or two Twin XL fitted sheets. A protector, like the Sleep & Beyond organic protector, should match both the size and depth; see our protector guide.

How Size Affects Price

Prices rise with size, but not evenly. For example, in October 2026 the PlushBeds Signature Bliss was $1,774 in Twin, $2,099 in Queen and $2,349 in King on sale, while King and Cal King were the same price. Comparing the jump from Queen to King across brands can help you decide whether the extra space is worth it.
